Five gay travel bloggers to bookmark before you hit the road

Travel blogging is everyone’s dream job. But even when we’re parked at our desk, we can plan our next trip with the help of travel bloggers. Gay tourism is growing, and it always helps to have someone's firsthand experience tell us what it’s really like traveling to Doha, Dubai, and Berlin—from the nightlife to the neighbourhoods. If you haven’t bookmarked these gay travel bloggers yet, these are the ones to check out (even if only on Instagram).

That Gay Backpacker

David started his travel adventure on New Year’s Eve two years ago in Bangkok and hasn’t looked back since. He covers everything from "how a homo should pack for a long-term backpacking trip" to gay sex shows in Bangkok to gay beaches in Mexico. He's also learning Spanish while staying in a hut in Guatemala—now that’s commitment.

Carlos Melia Blog

If you're into travel bling—and perhaps drooling on your laptop—check out the blog from this luxury travel consultant (and dot429 contributor) Carlos Melia. He blogs his journeys and discoveries, everything from spas and resorts, to beaches and five-star hotels. This is where you want to look for new trends, upcoming hotspots, and refreshing getaways.

Travels of Adam

Adam is an American graphic designer and writer based in Berlin, so many of his tips and travel guides focus on Europe. When not giving lectures on how to partner with brands, he writes city guides, food reviews, and best-of tips featuring intimate photography and honest firsthand accounts. My favourite read: Amsterdam.

Globetrotter Girls

This German-American couple, Dani and Jess, have ditched the cubicle for a life filled with travel. Since 2010, they’ve been on the road. Among the interesting topics they cover is LGBT travel in Latin America (where they've never been asked if they want one bed or two). They rant on Chilean food, as well. Funny reads.

Tango Diva

With a roster of 10 bloggers, this is the site for self-proclaimed “travel goddesses.” From ranch getaways, trips through America, insights on Italy, and crafting tips, this is for divas who want a slice of adventure served with a casual, cool flair.
