Yearly Mexican LGBT event extended from three days to five for 2014

Looking for a getaway? Puerto Vallarta’s yearly LGBT event, “Vallarta Pride,” will commence on May 22 and run through May 26. The event, which usually occurs over a three-day weekend, has been stretched out to a five-day celebration this year.

Vallarta Pride celebrates culture and people and will showcase local cuisine, beaches, music, fashion shows, parties and, this year, an opportunity to participate in a mass commitment ceremony.

Puerto Vallarta offers the gay and lesbian community a wide array of LGBT inclusive spaces, lodging options, and neighborhoods to explore such as the Romantic Zone, an area where many LGBT owned and oriented businesses reside. Visitors will have the option of choosing from an assortment of different accommodations for their lodging, including: resorts, hostels, guest houses, and bed and breakfasts.

The state of Jalisco, where Puerto Vallarta is located, passed a civil union law on October 31, 2013, allowing couples who share a home together to register their union with the state. This allows co-habituating couples to receive certain benefits, such as inheritance, medical rights, ownership of property, and many others.
