First interview since Tom Daley's coming out vid

Tom Daley: ‘Some people hit on me, offer gay sex there and then!' - Olympic bronze medalist says he came out because he wanted to be out with his boyfriend in public.

British Olympic diver Tom Daley has said since he came out he has had a deluge of offers of gay sex, including people who offer it ‘there and then’.

The 19-year-old heartthrob, dating 39-year-old screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, said he came out because he was tired of people always ‘questioning’ his sexuality.

The teen diver and ‘Splash’ star came out in a YouTube video posted last year, saying he was in a gay relationship and ‘couldn’t be happier’.

Daley was asked by actor James Corden in The Sun, after he came out, whether he had guys coming onto him.

‘Yeah, it does happen quite often,’ he responded.

‘You do get some people who just come up to you and offer it there and then. Like, literally.’

He added: ‘Some people come up to me and say, “Do you want to go back?” And I’m like, “What do you mean? The whole reason I did this was because I have a boyfriend.”

Daley also reflected on how tough it was to be constantly asked who he was dating and whether he had a girlfriend.

‘It just got to the point where I was like, “Why am I hiding it? It shouldn’t matter, nobody should care in this day and age”.’ he said.

‘I shouldn’t have had to do it — the video — because in theory it shouldn’t be anyone’s business.

‘But I did it and said all the reasons why because I didn’t want to have to hide any more.

‘I didn’t want to be constantly questioned about it, asked about it. I just thought, “You know what? I’m happy” — and that’s why I did it.’

He continued: ‘It doesn’t matter because I am a diver and that’s what I want to do and that won’t affect my diving in any way, shape, or form.

‘I was at the point where I thought, “You know, who cares?” I just didn’t want to feel I had to hide, or when I went out to dinner have to bring lots of people. It always had to be a group dinner.

‘I wanted to be able to go out, have dinner with him (boyfriend Dustin Lance Black).’
