Tom Daley’s ‘Splash!’ faces axe after ratings dive

Olympic diver's reality competition show is reportedly coming to an end as ITV searches for other projects for him

Men and women who like men are in mourning after learning they may lose their weekly dose of seeing British Olympic diver Tom Daley in his skimpy speedos.

As British reality TV show ‘Splash’ is reportedly facing the axe after ratings took a dive for the worse.

The ITV show pulled in disappointing numbers for the final, with only 4.4 million tuning in compared to last year’s 6.5 million.

The Sun reports ITV bosses are now considering scrapping the diving competition.

‘Splash! has been great fun and really captured the mood after the 2012 Olympics but ITV aren’t sure it will stand the test of time,’ a source said.

‘At the moment they’re looking at ideas to replace it as well as more ideas for Tom.’

In December last year, Daley revealed he was in a relationship with a man – which ended up being Oscar-winning scriptwriter and gay rights advocate Dustin Lance Black.

The 19-year-old won the hearts of the UK and people around the world when he won bronze in 2012’s London Olympics 10 metre platform dive.

He is also a gold medalist for the World and European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
